NSF-RET program is to provide opportunity for teachers to carry out front-line
research, with the purpose of furthering their continued professional
development. Teachers are assigned to the individual discipline of their preference (physics, chemistry, chemical engineering) to work with the MRSEC scientists and their post-docs, graduate students, and technical support staff for each individual lab.
RET Participants from Past Years The Physics Department at the Colorado School of Mines is offering a course in “How Things Work”, taught by Center investigator Tom Furtak. The 2008 course runs from July 28-29 and is intended for science teachers who are currently teaching in middle and high schools.
Materials Science From CU Classroom Programs Presented throughout the state, these classroom programs are based on physical science topics that are used as an introduction to the world of materials science. Students in grades 5-9 use this inquiry-based curriculum and hands-on activities to learn about interdisciplinary topics.
